Hebrew Prayer: Modeh Ani

Jewish tradition tells us, that right after we wake up, we should thank God for giving us our souls back. The prayer Modeh Ani is quite often the first one a child learns, and as such is a popular art to decorate a kid’s room with. It’s a lovely idea for a gift to the parents of a newborn or for a housewarming.

The prayer can be read in two ways, depending on the gender of the person who reads it. “Modeh ani” is in the masculine form, while “modah ani” in the feminine. Among the designs you will find both options as well as a neutral one with the vocalization removed, to be chosen by the one who reads. There are designs with Hebrew only or with added English transliteration and translation.
